Hot August Night and Day

Recently, I received the following thank you note and comments.

Penny and Jim,

Thank you for having us play at your music festival.  We had a great time, and really enjoyed hearing the other acts, too.  I especially liked the Samoan group -- the music and dancing were beautiful and so beautifully-presented.  Everyone looked so happy, especially the kids.  I hope the entire endeavor was a success for everyone.  although it was plenty hot during the day, I noticed a distinct cooling later yesterday afternoon, so I hope that helped.  Ron and I both could tell how much hard work went into organizing this kind of event.  Also, thank you Jim, for the tasty dinner, and tour of your lovely facilities.

     Hope to see you soon!

Love, Carol and Ron

“I won a gold fish! I won a gold fish!  I wonder what my mommy will say?”  A preschool age child

“I like King Cyrus’ hip hop music!”  a sixth grader.

“What a beautiful church and grounds.  My friend’s daughter is looking for a place to get married.  Do you have a brochure I could give her?”  A middle age woman

“It was a good experience for us.  If there is a Fest next year we’d love to come back because we had a lot of fun!”  Members of the Katella High Dance Team

“Thank you for your gracious hospitality!  It was our privilege to take part in this Multi Cultural Fest.”  A member of the Samoan choir

“What great music.  I really enjoyed this event.”  A vendor

“This was very well organized.  I like the layout even more than last year.  We can tell a lot of thought and work went into it.  Thank you.”  2 photographers

Despite the 100 degree heat we had a wonderful time at our 2nd Annual Multi Cultural Music Festival.  We had 140 performers who participated including 7 bands, 3 choirs, 3 soloist, and 3 dance groups. 33 vendors also set up shop that day. Though the temperature was 20 degrees hotter than last year we still had 750 people show up for this inspiring Multi Cultural Festival.

Special thanks to the following bands, choirs, and dancers etc.for their participation in this gala 1 ½ day event.  Tom Waldron and Band, Simon Gounder Asian Indian Choir, Destiny (from Saddleback Church), Carol and Ron of The McMammal’s (Irish Blues Group), the Samoan Youth Choir from San Diego, the Five Star Band (classic rock), Katella High Dance Squad, King Cyrus (Hip Hop Music), Bob States (Old Time Gospel), David Jaramillo Mariachi Group, Ricardo Valenzuela’s Latin Jazz Group, David Song and the Korean Choir, Isy Martin and Friends (Rythmn and Blues), Raffia Nadine Ford (smooth Jazz), the Polynesian Dancers and Fire Knife Dancer.

Special thanks also to Mike Austin, Lynn Morrill and my wife Penny for countless hours spent organizing the Festival.  Others who gave of their time included, our preschool teachers, Dianne and Craig Rowe, Willie Beeson, Myra Allen, Lois and Dennis Johnson, Maria Doyle, Gary and Terri Ryder, Jeffrey and Stephanie Williams, Pastors Taisi and Grettel and members of the Full Gospel Christian Fellowship, Richard Sham,  Pastor Samuel and Suzana and members of Iglesia de Dios, Pastor Manning and Paulette and members of the Living Word Church, Paul Haas, Gary Morrill and family, John and Katie Morrill, Roger and Janice Bowers, Jose and the sound and lighting team, and many others who volunteered to cook, set up and clean up.

We also want to thank the following sponsors… Pennington Auto, the Law offices of Rolf J. Rolnicki, Nelson and Martha Brewart Coins and Stamps, La Dame Catering, Orange Community Bank, Portofino Italiana Ristorante, R.J. Handyman, Missionare, and HTR Insurance Agency.

I was proud of our churches and all the effort that made this a great time of fellowship for all involved.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Jim
